Hi, I'm Hillary ~
an Ohio based wedding, portrait, & fine art photographer.
PAINTING WITH LIGHT
TO PROVIDE YOU WITH IMAGES THAT ARE
RAW, REAL, & AUTHENTIC TO YOU.
My journey as an artist started in my earliest days. I think my pull towards art has always been a part of me — something I was born with, and have continued to grow into. As a child, I was constantly doodling, drawing, and sketching, and once I became more skilled, painting and illustrating. By the time my senior year of high school arrived, I had decided to major in illustration at the Columbus College of Art and Design — a plan that shifted when a little point and shoot camera happened to find its way into my hands. I started experimenting and quickly realized that photography was the right path for me. So, I changed my major and went on to graduate from CCAD in 2014 with a BFA in Photography. Since then, I have worked professionally as a real estate, portrait, boudoir, and wedding photographer. I am also a hobbyist nature and urban exploration photographer, and in 2021 I published my first book Abandoned Ohio: But That Day Did End. The book showcases 140 color photographs of abandoned and historical places that I documented throughout the state of Ohio.
My obsession with weddings began after I lost my job as a boudoir photographer. Isn’t it funny how sometimes the worst things that happen to you turn out to be the best things? I still have so much love for boudoir, but I was longing for work that felt more challenging, fluid, fleeting, and meaningful. By chance — or fate — my childhood best friend, who had recently eloped in Alaska, was planning a wedding reception back in our Ohio hometown, and she asked me if I wanted to document it. I fell madly in love with wedding photography on that day. It was a love that was instant; a love that made me feel like this was the work that I was put on this planet to do.
Thank you so much for being here. Being able to do this work and serve others in my own way truly means everything to me.
